History
In March of 2000, five organizations with similar missions joined together to form a new and expanded entity known as DavenportOne. One of the predecessor organizations was the Davenport Chamber of Commerce. Since the consolidation six years ago, the Chamber of Commerce is one of three functions which DavenportOne encompasses. The other functions are the Downtown Partnership and Economic Development for Davenport.
Staffing / Governance
To meet its expanded mission, DavenportOne employs 18 professionals and utilizes hundreds of volunteers. A volunteer board of directors of 36 men and women, representing all sectors of business, serves as the policymaking body.
Budget
DavenportOne has a $2.8 million dollar operating budget, with three sources of funding:
-
49% of revenue comes from membership investments, which include dues and multi-year pledges from members and partners.
-
33% comes from earned income, which includes fees for service such as those paid to participate in the Leadership Davenport program; fundraising events such as the gala auction; and other fundraising.
-
18% is raised through the downtown Davenport SSMID (Self-Supporting Municipal Improvement District), money paid by downtown property owners and wholly dedicated to downtown improvements such as the hanging flower baskets and brick sidewalks.
Quad-City businesses remain DavenportOne’s primary funders through their dues and D1 Initiative investments.
